Just who is Jax? (Jack Duford)
A love of the sea, classic boats and the Maine coast has always inspired Jack. He decided to leave San Francisco and return home to Maine and its quality of life almost 20 years ago, and never looked back.
Tutored by Master Photographer John Lewis Shipman of Philadelphia, Jack has taken the best of both film and digital photography to present his collectors with images that have a quality that has been described as timeless and classic. Almost dreamlike, images taken in the fog are his own personal favorites.
A sailor at heart, he has always lived on the coast, and his images capture the quiet beauty of Maine that most only see in travel brochures. Patience and getting off the beaten path have inspired his most recent images of the century old schooners and Maine coastal life.
Recently awarded Second Place in a national competition for his image "Fair Winds and Following Seas", Jack had the honor of having his work on display in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Station NYC, as well as being published in a second book titled “Endless Journeys”. The Photo, now part of a traveling exhibit, will visit Washington DC, South Beach and San Francisco.
Residing in Perkins Cove brings inspiration daily. With a little more coaxing, his next series may bring us up close and personal with those men, women and lobsters we all love so much! Expect the unexpected with that series. Anything goes as Jack gets to know his subjects before shooting, and his personality will bring out the best for all to see.
All photos are "as shot", no digital enhancements have been used. You see it exactly as he froze the moment/memory in time. All framed works are Copyrighted Photographic prints, not printed posters.
